January 2010 witnessed a host of celebrity award shows, to which some showed up looking fabulous - think Emily Blunt and Fearne Cotton - whilst others completely missed the mark - Julianne Moore and Katie Price - I'm looking at you!

Continuing this New Year's flurry of glittering celebrity events, the last day in January was the date of this year's Grammy awards, where some of the stars made an effort to see out the month in style and others looked as though they'd got dressed in the dark.

So let's start with the good... although known for her outrageous rock chic style, singing sensation Pink looked flawless in a floor-length gown from Tony Ward Haute Couture. Beyoncé also looked stunning in a creamy figure-hugging gown by Stephane Rolland, as did Taylor Swift in her deep blue sparkling Kaufman Franco dress. Imogen Heap also looked cute in a quirky homage to this season's trend for sheer fabric and Jennifer Hudson was effortlessly elegant in a tailored black number.

As for the bad... despite her recent reinvention, Britney Spears looked a little too much like her old self in a see-through number that made it look as though she'd forgotten to put her dress on. And is it even worth mentioning Lady Gaga? True to form she looked absolutely insane in a diamante body stocking and a dress that looked to have the potential to take out someone's eye. I'm all for individuality and self expression, but is it really necessary to attend an awards show looking like a shimmery solar system? I think not.
