Throughout the years, Buckingham palace has hosted many events which have been attended by thousands of different people from all over the globe. On Tuesday evening the royal palace played host to some of the most famous faces in home-grown fashion, as it acted as a splendid venue for the royal reception for the British Clothing Industry.

Compared to the awards-filled month of January there have been notably fewer glittering celebrity bashes so far this month. Having said that, Tuesday evening saw London play host to what is arguably the biggest night of the year in British music - The Brit Awards. Being such a huge event you might presume that the ladies would make an extra special effort in the wardrobe department, but with the exception of a couple of great ensembles (Fearne Cotton, Cat Deeley and Florence Welch) it was more than obvious that this was an evening to award musical ability rather than fashion sense.

In spite of its distinctly French location, this week fashion wild child Jean Paul Gaultier successfully managed to make Paris Couture Fashion Week feel more like a hot and spicy fiesta than a predictably rainy afternoon in Europe. Never one to disappoint, Gaultier stunned his audience with a fabulous collection inspired by all aspects of Mexican culture and heritage, from the obvious iconic silhouettes of sombreros through to pre-Spanish Mexican society - certainly a lot to fit into one collection!
