YOUR FRONT ROW GUIDE TO THE LATEST DESIGNER 'MUST-HAVES'
Category >> Life as a Fashion Student!

Another week has passed and I have started making my final jacket, my pattern has been cut out and prepared for sewing and any last alterations made to my designs. The material that was provided for us is a type of mac material. Not exactly perfect for my jacket but it will be sufficient enough. Pinning and Cutting isn't fantastic as the material is thick as has a shiny quality to it and not particually friendly to my fingers.

After a long week of pattern alterations and design development I finally decided on a suitable design and final pattern for my jacket. I made my mock up to make sure all darts and seams were in the right place and that the collar matched well with the front of the jacket.

This week I am now ready to go ahead and make my final jacket, The material I have chosen is Navy Blue mac type material with Beige binding all round. After searching High and low in Charity shops and Vintage stores I also came across some original Royal Navy Buttons to give it that extra edge and authentic WWI feel.

30 designs later and having not been able to decide on my initial designer out of either Lanvin or Chanel so I decided to go for a mixture. By stirring up the designs a little I created a range of double breasted, Piped jackets to Go with My WWI & II theme.

Ok so I have a minor Dilemma! I need to design 30 Tailored Jackets by Monday 24th and cant decide on my most influential designer of the 1920's-1950'. Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel or Jeanne Lanvin to base them on.
