A Second Anniversary
I’m not an overly sentimental person as a rule; which is why the subject of today’s post is an unusual choice for me. Today is my husband and mine’s second wedding anniversary. We were married on the 21st August 2010 at Bailbrook House in Batheaston. The two years have certainly flown by and I’ve enjoyed every minute of my married life so far. To mark this special occasion I’ve chosen some of my favourite photographs from our wedding to share with you.
Our wedding was special for obvious reasons, but I must admit to feeling a slight sense of relief once it was over. The months of hard work and planning were done and the day had gone off without a hitch (broken air conditioning aside…). So I found it quite strange this morning to wake up feeling very nostalgic.
Perhaps this is a result of not seeing my husband for a fortnight (he’s been away with work), or perhaps it’s me getting caught up in wedding fever as my closest friends all tie the knot. I’m not sure, but either way I wanted to make sure I acknowledged this special day.
Darren (my husband) is back from his business trip later today, so we get to celebrate our anniversary together this evening. Nothing exciting planned, I’m sure he’ll be exhausted from two weeks camped out in a hotel in Zurich, working everyday (including weekends). So I think pizza, wine and a movie will be the order of the day – nothing pretentious, just an opportunity to relax together and reminisce.
Marriage, like any relationship takes work. Ours has had its good moments, its bad moments and its great moments. Two years isn’t long in the grand scheme of things, but ensuring you value and appreciate one another each day for all of the 730 days can make it feel much longer. But as long as you’re honest with one another and try to keep happy, marriage is pretty simple.
So here’s to the past two wonderful years and hoping for many more happy ones in the future.
