Zachary One Day Old

My waters breaking at 4:30 on a Wednesday morning was the abrupt beginning to the rest of my life.

My contractions followed shortly afterwards so we headed over to Frimley Park hospital to be examined. On arrival we were ushered into a side room and were quickly informed that we would be going nowhere as meconium was present.

Center Parcs Babymoon

I'd been cajoling (nagging) my husband into organising a babymoon for both of us since the 20 week scan back in February. Really just an excuse for a weekend away somewhere, but sold as the last opportunity for us to enjoy each other's company without the addition of an extremely demanding third party (although I'm hoping that in the future this is where having enthusiastic to help grandparents comes into its own!).

My Baby Shower

My Baby Shower

Last Saturday was the first official celebration of our expected arrival in June, who I will refer to as ‘Baby H’ - his/her actual nickname varies greatly depending on who you ask, but ‘Baby H’ is both applicable and fit for public consumption. Although my due date is actually towards the end of June (the 22nd to be precise), one of my best friends, who helped to organise the shower is expecting her own bundle of joy in April, so we wanted to arrange an early baby shower for me so that we could be ready for our new roles as Aunties in just a few weeks’ time!

Fireworks!

I love blogging. I love writing about things I'm passionate about and I enjoy meeting fellow bloggers and reading about things they’re passionate about. However, there are occasions where real life can get in the way of your hobbies and passions, or times where for whatever reason you just fancy taking a break from it. That’s the real beauty of part-time blogging for me, I don’t depend on it for an income, although I make a little money from affiliate marketing and sponsored posts, that predominantly goes towards the cost of hosting the site and not supporting me. So when I feel like taking some time away to rediscover my enthusiasm, I can do so without any real concerns or apologies.

Faye enjoying the Piccadilly Hamper

Sunshine. Actual sunshine in the British Isles! Us Brits are frequently lambasted for our constant need to comment on the weather, but when you live in a country where you can experience all four seasons in one day, it’s going to make the headlines. Recently however, we've been basking in an unusually good spell of sunny weather. Gone is the normal attire of raincoats over summer outfits and rainy day activities replacing best laid sunshine plans. Instead, us Brits have been able to indulge in more traditional summer pastimes like picnics, beach trips and watching Wimbledon without the roof closed!
