An Avenue Apart

For the most part items on my ‘wishlist’ are normally confined to the shopping section of my site, but in the case of Avenue32 I felt the need to make an exception. Avenue32 is a fairly recent discovery for me (behind the trend as always!), but one I’m especially glad I made. While I’m a huge fan of the infinitely-stocked online retail giants, I delight in browsing smaller online boutiques that add a pinch of personality to their collection edits. Avenue32 encompasses this smaller store individuality perfectly; alongside mainstream brands such as 3.1 Phillip Lim (check out the 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli bags!), they stock an eclectic mix of up-and-coming designers such as Ginny Litscher and Mother of Pearl.

One of my favourite features of the site is the organising of items in the ‘What’s New’ section by colour. There’s just something so aesthetically pleasing about this, most likely enhanced by my perpetual wish to organise my own wardrobe with such proficiency!

Listing all my favourites would have resulted in an essay-like post, so I limited myself to choosing only a few. Influenced (inadvertently) by the bright collection of yellow products that appear first on the ‘What’s New’ section led me to choose quite a few sunshine themed pieces. The yellow on the Ginny Litscher scarf and Antonio Marras trousers appears to glow with the promise of Spring/Summer on the horizon. While the Maria Francesca Pepe cuff and necklace are the perfect accessories to give your new season style a sophisticated edge. And a warm-mustard 3.1 Phillip Lim Pashli… need I say any more?!

Mint Velvet SS13 Collection

Mint Velvet SS13 Press Day

The weather may be wintery and miserable outside, but my mind is firmly set in spring mode. Maybe it’s the post-fashion week blues or longer daylight hours that’s caused my seasonal clock to skip a beat, or perhaps it the flurry of new season stock arriving at my favourite stores? I’m inclined to think it has more to do with the latter and my desire to shrug off my dull winterey threads in favour of new pastels and prints.

Mint Velvet SS13 Collection

Back in November I was invited along to Mint Velvet’s SS13 press day. Spring seemed a long way off then, but I still enjoyed the opportunity to browse through their delectable collection and indulge my post-BFAs self with a relaxing hand massage courtesy of the spa at the Sanderson hotel.

Mint Velvet SS13 Prints

I’m already a huge fan of this brand and bought no less than three dresses from their AW12 collection. Needless to say I think I’ll be buying even more from their SS13 collection, I can see this becoming quite a costly business!

Mint Velvet SS13 Jewellery

Amongst the MV pieces for Spring/Summer are their classic styles reworked with warmer colours and updated prints. Previous seasons has seen them stick to a more muted tone, but bright oranges and yellows abound this season making me dream of beaches, blue skies and summer days to come.

Favourites from the collection include the mosaic trench coat, the pleat bib dress (a shorter sleeved version of the black dress I bought last season) and the Zanthe print dress.

A Boutique Named Desire

In between the madness that surrounds the Christmas holidays and festive season, there are always a few moments when you can find yourself at a bit of a loss. I generally spend these precious few minutes (in between kitchen chaos and family gatherings) browsing the web, catching up with fellow bloggers and perusing the online sales. This year was no exception, as soon as we were headed home from my parents-in-law I was glued to my iPad, catching up with my peers and (more importantly) having a good nosey at their Christmas gifts.

It was during one of these festive-buffet blackouts that I came across the Designer Desirables online boutique. They stock a huge range of women’s designer clothes and it’s not hard to see why the name 'Designer Desirables' was chosen. Coveted brands such as Traffic People, Love From Australia, Forever Unique and House of Dereon can be found alongside in-house designs that provide price on top of exceptional quality.

In addition to an almost overwhelming collection of pieces, one of my favourite features of this site is the ‘shop by celeb’ section. Some of you may remember the original incarnation of The ‘It’ Guide provided you with a list of items as worn by your favourite celebrities, so it’s no surprise really that I would love that concept!

Favourites from the available collections include their scarlet red coat, the khaki jacket with sequinned sleeves (practical yet glamorous!), their very appropriate ‘geek’ sweater and of course… the ubiquitous onesie!

Phase Eight Party Outfit Challenge

Phase Eight Party Outfits Fur Collar Edina T-Bar Platform Shoes Leopard Bag Crochet Sequin Panel Skirt Agatha Silk Tie Blouse Maggie Taffeta Dress T-Bar Mary Jane Court Thandie Clutch Bag Sienna Beaded Tapework Dress Glitter Platform Shoes

My latest blogger challenge comes courtesy of Phase Eight; who challenged the readers of their blog to put together the ultimate party outfit. The timing of this challenge is perfect, with Christmas only round the corner festive parties and events are imminent and Phase Eight have all your outfit problems solved.

The biggest challenge as it turned out was not choosing one outfit, but stopping myself from choosing hundreds. As it is I ended up selecting three, all equally versatile and perfect for the upcoming holiday festivities.

Outfit One
The first outfit I put together features Phase Eight’s new Sienna beaded tapework dress. This is a beautifully elegant dress and I’ve teamed it with their Thandie clutch bag and glitter platforms for that extra bit of sparkle. Completely perfect for festive drinks with your girlfriends.

Outfit Two
Outfit number two is all about preppy edge; the sequin panel skirt adds that necessary bit of sparkle with the Agatha silk blouse finishing the party-prep look. The leopard print bag is a distinctive and contemporary choice and the simple black Mary-Jane pumps complete the look perfectly. A wonderfully chic outfit to wear to your office Christmas party.

Outfit Three
The ultimate 1950s style party outfit; a magnificent crush taffeta prom dress with full puffball skirt, complemented by sophisticated metallic t-bar shoes and finished with a faux fur collar that adds both a touch of warmth and glamour. A vintage style outfit that would be perfect for a glamorous New Year's Eve!

The Kardashians are Koming

Kardashian Sisters; Kourtney, Kim and Khloe

My new style ‘krush’ arrives this week at Dorothy Perkins. The Kardashian Kollection is the aptly named ready-to-wear clothing range from Kardashian sisters, Kourtney, Kim and Khloé. The 100 piece collection launches on November 8th and sees tailored pieces work alongside flattering shapes and party dresses, which embody their signature styles.

Kourtney’s bohemian chic can be emulated with floaty drape sleeve blouses and Kim’s red carpet glamour arrives in ‘look at me’ dresses. While Khloé’s edgier dressing sees playful prints and a mix of textures, making the KK line perfect for everyone.

Keeping up with the Kardashian’s has long been a guilty pleasure of mine, way before TOWIE or MIC filled up my viewing time, I was tuning in to see what Kim, Kris, Bruce and co were getting up to in their latest episode. Despite the obvious closeness between the sisters, their individual styles are remarkably different. Khloé’s bold approach to styling new trends has always impressed me, albeit when she chose to wear sky-high platforms to the beach…

Alongside the signature clothing, the ready to wear collection also includes gorgeous bags that are the perfect accessory day and night. Oversized totes as well as glammed up sequin clutches finish the look perfectly, giving you extra confidence to step out in style.

Kardashian Kollection from Dorothy Perkins

Available exclusively online at dorothyperkins.com and in stores nationwide, there are pieces to fall in love with that will add a touch of Kardashian sparkle to your ‘Kristmas’.
